Welcome to My Favorite F***ing Movie, a personal exploration of sex through film. MFFM is released once a month, at the end of each month.
I’m Claire, an Elgin Award-nominated poet (for my book of poetry, I Am Not Your Final Girl) and writer living in Los Angeles. My poems and essays have been featured in numerous outlets, and my essay on writing violence into poetry is in the craft book, Writing Poetry in the Dark, from Raw Dog Screaming Press.
My writing explores stigmatized issues at the junction of feminism, sexuality, queerness, and horror. I’m interested in all forms of art strange, subversive, and scorned by the mainstream—particularly in the horror and romance genres. I write more about film, sex, and queerness on my blog, and discuss romance novels and sexuality on my podcast, Sexy Books Podcast.
Movies are my thing, man. I love horror movies, especially women-driven ones (duh), and I have a big soft spot for early 00s horror (those nihilistic teen horrors of my youth, natch). I also love Gregg Araki, John Waters, and indie/queer/boundary-pushing cinema of all kinds.
I could talk about movies forever. Let’s talk movies.
